Contents Note

Reverend Michael Wigglesworth's 1649 notebook, containing notes on sermons. Most entries are written in shorthand, following a variant of the system in Thomas Shelton's Tachygrahy.

Material Features

Bound in brown leather. Part of the Wigglesworth family papers, making up 25 items. Papers from three generations of the Massachusetts Wigglesworth family: Rev. Michael Wigglesworth (1631-1705), Edward Wigglesworth (1693-1765) and Edward Wigglesworth (1732-1794). The latter two were professors of divinity at Harvard College. The papers include correspondence, deeds, estate papers, poetry and records of estate settlements.
