A copy of the sermon preached at Oxon (Oxford), on Sunday in the afternoon, July 11, 1630 by Peter Heylyn. The sale catalogue indicates that this sermon on Matthew 13:25 made "much noise" at the time, being "designed to expose a plan for the buying up of lay-impropriations."
Octavo in vellum covers, tightly bound. 42 pages. Notes by Martin Routh at beginning and end of MS.
Part of a small collection of books originating from the personal library of former college president Martin Routh, returned to the college after his death in 1854. The notes left by Routh in the MS and on a strip from a bookseller's catalogue suggest that this volume previously belonged to Dr. A. Clarke, and was priced at 12 shillings.
