This manuscript belonged to Thomas Wakefield, and was then passed on to his son, Nathaniel Wakefield, who, like his father, used the volume as a commonplace book. The contents of the manuscript include notes relating to payments to the poor of Horseheath, Cambridgeshire; epitaphs; aphorisms; a diary of afflictions dating from the late 1630s; notes on the weather dating from the 1670s; compilations of extracts on topics such as pride, disobedience, and love; and a catalogue of books owned in 1661.
