1661-03-23 (old) - England - Funeral This boy, the 15-year-old eldest son of Robert Burrowe(s) who died in 1656, died on March 23, 1661, but the date of the funeral is not given. His younger brother Daniel had died in August, only seven months earlier.

A funeral elegy for Robert occupies f. 68r-v. An acrostic on Robert Burrow [sic] occupies f. 69r-v. It is uncertain whether "I.H. fecit. E. H. scr[ipsit] refers to this last work or to the whole volume.

Description

Preached at the funeral of Robert Burrowe(s) the Younger. This is the third funeral sermon in the manuscript, for the eldest son of the family who had died at the young age of fifteen. Sermons for children were uncommon in this period.
