Description
Fragment of a sermon; no specific biblical text stated. This extract refers to one of the bishops of the time of King Charles I, who was a pillar of the Church, who often presided as a priest in Exeter chapel, who was followed even by atheists, and who several times encountered Cromwell and "frighted him" with his venerable presence and the uncontrollable authority of his arguments. Much of this applies to archbishop Usher, who often preached in Exeter College chapel, and had several interviews with Cromwell.
