Description

The full title of this sermon is as follows: ‘The fift sermond he lamenteth the fraylty of his apost:les the deniall of St peetter and how he is carried to pilate.’ At the beginning of the sermon, ‘Christ’ explains how Peter’s denial ‘doth more aflict me the[n] all the disgraces’ thus far suffered (first leaf, verso). Another section appears before the ‘fruit’ of the sermon; namely, ‘[T]he saruants humble acknowledgment of his owne weaknes and frailty’, beginning on the fourth leaf (recto) until the seventh leaf (recto), which resumes Christ’s point of view. ‘The fruit of ye 5 sermon’ begins on the tenth leaf (recto). Written in a neat hand. With catchwords at the bottom of each page. Some use of Latin.
