Description

Written in a large, fairly inconsistent, but clear hand. This sermon meditates upon the simultaneous curse and blessing of death. It was preached at the funeral of an anonymous elderly widow of considerable standing (see f. 18r-v; ff. 33r-39v). On f. 33v, it is stated that 'her middle age brought her to the estate of matrimonye, an honourable estate […]'. Her devotional rituals, on her walks and in her closet, are described on ff. 34v-35r. A depiction of her preparation for death begins on f. 36r, including a mention of receiving the sacrament of the Lord's Supper.
