The sermon begins (fol. 75r) as follows: 'The Former part of this verse is an eligant declaration of Xs Ascension into Heav'n.' The preacher explains that there are three 'things or particulars, 1st The Good designed by Xt to be done at his entering into Heav'n [...] 2dly The Persons for whom he designed that Good [...] 3dly. The Circumstances of the Time of his appearing in the p[re]sence of God for us, and that is Now.'

This sermon has been written mainly on the rectos of the leaves only, in a small, neat italic hand. There are no marginal annotations. It may have been preached on Ascension Day, but this is not specified. This preacher evidently disapproved of Socinians, Deists, and Unitarians, declaring that 'they are onely different names of yt sacrilegious sect!' The sermon may have been preached in 1722 in addition to the dates specified above, but this is unclear.
