Contents Note

MS contains 37 homilies (a form of short sermon) and Presbytery exercises (the short sermons given at Presbytery meetings) by students in theology at the University of Glasgow, dated 1696 - 1702. A large number of the individual MSS are signed by their author and most have titles in a different hand, most likely that of James Wodrow. MS Gen 341 and 342 are a set.

Material Features

Leather bound volume containing multiple MSS of varying size that have been compiled into this MS. The endpapers are extracts of a printed work. The spine is broken and very delicate, the internal MSS have some fraying and marking but are in a good overall condition. There are no folio or page numbers but each MS within the volume has been given a number.

Acquisition

Part of a collection of papers of Robert Wodrow held by the University of Glasgow. The manuscript was acquired from Charles W Wodrow Thomson on 8th July 1891.
