Title
Sermons on the Canticles, 1653-1655
Shelfmark
GB 247 MS Gen 370
Creation Date
ca. 1653 - 1655
Contents Note

The MS contains 63 sermons on the Canticles (Song of Solomon) by an unknown author. The University of Glasgow catalogue suggests an association to a 'J G F' but they remain unidentified. The hand suggests that all of the sermons are the work of one author and some are dated, suggesting they were penned between c.1653-1655.

Material Features

A large leather bound volume in very good condition. The spine of the MS has a faded label that says 'sermon on 6th ... chap. of the Canticles MSS.' There is folded paper attached to the end pages of the MS containing writing in a different hand (possibly by a later owner). There are page numbers that appear to be original to the MS, they are very faded in places and end at p.769. The sermons continue to p.946 and there are a further c.80 blank pages. c.1050 pages in total.
