Contents Note

Contains 56 sermons preached in 1656 by various preachers. The first folio of the MS contains the following inscription - 'James Wodrow aught this book' alongside doodles and some Greek, Latin and English notes (which take up the first few pages). There is an index on the third folio that details the book/chapter/verse, preacher and sermon number (and some page numbers). The sermons are numbered throughout. The inscription by Wodrow is also found in other MSS in the same collection which also contain his signature - these appear to be his sermons notes taking whilst he was a student at the University of Glasgow.

Material Features

A small leather bound notebook, the original ties are missing but the binding is otherwise in good condition. The paper is in very good condition throughout. The MS runs in two directions, the front has been taken to be the side with the archive label on the inside cover. There are page numbers and sermon numbers, both of which are original to the MS, and a total of 385 pages.

Acquisition

Part of a collection of papers of Robert Wodrow held by the University of Glasgow. The manuscript was acquired from Charles W Wodrow Thomson on 8th July 1891.
