Other note

Surname sometimes spelled "Flint." He married Margery Hoar, sister of Leonard Hoar, first President of Harvard. Flynt emigrated from Matlock, Derbyshire, in 1635, and was ordained teacher of the newly gathered church at Braintree and became a prominent minister in the region (Dunn, iv, 2). He was father to Josiah Flynt (1645-1680) and grandfather to Henry Flynt (1675-1760), also prominent congregationalist clergymen.
