Other note

Minister and merchant and best known as an influential music educator. Tufts was born in Medford, Massachusetts, and graduated from Harvard College with an A.B in 1708. He was ordained on 30 June 1714 when he was installed as pastor of the Second Congregational Church in Newbury but was evidently a supply preacher before that.
