List of Sermons Preached in London

List of sermons heard by Samuel Lister preached in London ca. 1661-1662. Includes multiple sermons by Edmund Calamy the elder, William Spurstowe, Thomas Watson, Thomas Horton and "Baxter", who is possibly Richard Baxter. For one sermon from 26 January 1661 on Luke 12:5 by Spurstowe, three other dates given, presumably for sermons on the same text by the same preacher: 2 February, 2 and 9 March.

List of Sermons Preached for the Fordham Lectures 1703

On f. 2v is a list of "Intended Subjects for Fordham Lecture" which includes lectures by Robert Fleming, Mr. Scandrett [likely Stephen Scandrett], Mr. Bury [perhaps Arthur Bury?], and Mr. Wright. These preachers' initials and the texts on which they preached are placed beside the list of intended subjects. On ff. 71v-72v, Fleming has written as list describing how "The Heads Intended to have been discoursed of (as above,) were Handled (as things fell out) as follows." This list includes the subjects and preachers, but not the texts used.

An Account of the Fast Sermons During the Rump Parliament

A list of sermons, mostly printed, preached on fast days before the House of Commons, 1640-1649, compiled by Anthony Wood in roughly chronological order. He identifies this as the period of the "Rump Parliament," although the Rump Parliament was not formed until 1648. Most entries consist of the preacher's name and a few details to identify him, followed by the title under which the sermon was printed, the preaching date, the Bible text, and publication information. A few entries have additional information about the content and attendance of the sermon.

The Sermons that H. Prichard Preached for Dr. Brady 1705-1706

These folios comprise a chronological list of sermons preached by H. P. for Dr. Brady in Clapham. Despite the title that gives a date range ending in 1706, the list continues into 1707. Most of the entries include only the date and biblical text, but occasionally, as in the case of the entry for April 28, 1706, Prichard provides further details of the occasion, in this case a detailed account of how he unexpectedly came to preach on that day.

Texts of Sermons Somewhat Illustrated in This Vollume

While this part of the manuscript is properly a list of biblical texts rather than a list of sermons, they follow consecutively from page 1 through page 517. There are 49 entries, the last of which is unlike the others in that it is not assigned a page number following consecutively from the others. Instead, the biblical text -- Psalms 42: 1-2 -- is followed by "B B Hopkins Pag. 76."

Report of a Sermon on Isaiah 7:9

Notes for the sermon, listed in the index or at the front of the manuscript, are missing from the manuscript (the missing folios are ff. 152-160). This is the first sermon preached after Sarah Savage's father Philip Henry was sent to prison in Chester at the time of the Duke of Monmouth's rebellion. The sermon noted was apparently preached on July 5, 1685.
