'… I John Mayer of Roydon in ye County of Suff[olk]: doc[tor]: of divinity sick in body, yet of good & p[er]fect Remembrance (thanks be to God) doe make this my last will & Testam[en]t in ye 81st yeere of my age An[n]o d[omi]ni 1663 March 3rd … Item I giue unto my Louing Wife … all my Manuscripts, viz. first Sermons upon Genesis; Sermons upon Solomons songs, & upon ye four Gospells, and upon ye Revelations …'

Batman reports that Whitgift preached 'in o[ur] Church'. He presumably means his own church, St Mary's, Newington.
Batman writes that the Bishop of London (i.e. John Aylmer) wrote to him on 13 August 1583, requesting that he preach the following Sunday at Paul's Cross, or for Mr Cotton to preach instead of Batman.
