The full title of the sermon (see f. 53v) is as follows: 'A looking-Glasse for lawers, & lawiers: A sermon preached before ye Judges of Assise for ye countie of Devon in ye Cathedrall church of St Peter in Exon on ye 8th day of August: 1603: by George Closse maister of Artes, & preacher of ye worde of god at Black-torrington.' There is a Ramist table on the same page.

A Sermon preached at Hartford the 4th day of March 1607
Written in a cursive hand. The full title of this sermon is as follows: 'A Sermon preached at Hartford the 4th day of March 1607 before Sr John Leventhorpe Knight beinge high Sheriffe Sr Thomas Walmysley and Sr. John Croke Knights being Judges of the Assize, and other Knightes & gentleme[n] of the Sheere.' The running headers read as follows: 'A Sermon preached at the Assizes.' The pages have faded red rulings. There are biblical citations in the margins. Some use of Greek and Latin.
Sermon 2 on unknown text
According to the title page, the sermon was preached "in the Choir of Chester Cathedrall (at the Assizes held there) before the late Bishop of Chester, Lord Chief-Justice Jeakyl, &c. and Sr. John Chetwode Bart. High-Sheriff for both Countyes." The title page also refers to the "late" Bishop of Chester. The only Bishop of Chester who held the office in this period and had died by 1717 is Nicholas Stratford, so he must be the bishop in question, and the date must be no later than 1707, when Stratford died.

According to the title page, the sermon was preached "in Stafford (at ye Assizes held there) before the Judges the Bishop, and near an hundred of the Clergy."
