Born in London to Thomas and Anne Roach on 17 July 1662. Educated at Merchant Taylors' School, London. Matriculated from St John's College in 1681; BA in 1686, MA in 1688, BD in 1695. Ordained in 1690 and appointed rector of St. Augustine, Hackney, Middlesex that year, a post he held until his death on 30 August 1730. He was one of the founders of the interconfessional Philadelphian Society.
