Other note
After attending Yale, Edwards became minister of the Congregationalist church at Northampton Massachusetts. He served as the minister there between 1726 and 1750, when he was dismissed by the congregation after a controversy over church membership. He went on to serve as a missionary among the Mahican and Mohawk near Stockbridge, Mass. before becoming president of the College of New Jersey (later Princeton).
