Contained in the manuscript is an envelope which reads, "Manuscript notes of sermons of Rev. Timothy Edwards of East Windsor, Conn. in his own handwriting, given to me by John W. Stoughton of W. Windsor, Oct. 12, 1875." The sermons are separated by lines and their dates and locations. The sermons appear to have all been preached in East Windsor in 1710.
Many of the manuscripts in this collection were donated to Yale in 1900 by the descendants of Jonathan Edwards. Others, the family manuscripts in particular, were later acquired by gift or purchase from Edwards’ descendants. The finding aid does not provide more specific information on provenance but requests researchers to consult the curators.
