Anne Sadleir (née Coke) was born on 1 March 1585 at Huntingfield Manor, Suffolk, the second of ten children of Sir Edward Coke, judge, and his wife, Bridget. She married Ralph Sadleir (1579-1661) on 13 September 1601, and moved to Standon Lordship, Hertfordshire. Several volumes of religious and autobiographical meditations authored by Anne can be found in the Library of Trinity College, Cambridge.
