Other note

Robert Paxton was licensed for the American colonies in 1709. His father John, parish schoolmaster and precentor, remained at Humbie, Scotland. Robert Paxton often used the printed sermons of John Tillotson and Jeremy Taylor as inspiration for his own sermons. He lived for four years at Kecoughtan, the settlement known today as Hampton, Virginia. Paxton died on 25 March 1714.
