Sarah Savage's Sermon Notes
Shelfmark
MS 90.9
Creation Date
ca. 1683 - 1685
Contents Note

The manuscript contains Sarah Savage's notes on sermons (by various preachers) during these years. Occasionally, Sarah identifies the preacher by surname. Each set of notes is generally clear and the structure / divisions are evident. Most of these notes are substantial. Although location and occasion are not specified (except in significant and exceptional cases), these notes were likely taken by Sarah at Broad Oak, Flintshire, for sermons preached on Sundays.

Material Features

The manuscript itself is in fair shape. Its top board has come loose and is hanging by one thread. At the beginning of the volume is a list of biblical texts and dates preached. Sarah's index in this manuscript uses New Style dating, but Old Style dates have been entered for consistency with other entries.

Source of Data
