Contents Note

Fair copies of six sermons preached by Trail. There is no indication of where or when the sermons were preached. The first sermon is preceded by the title "Six Sermons, concerning Frustrating the Grace of God, by mixing The Works of the Law with the Righteousness of Christ in the Justification of a Sinner before God. By The Reverend Mr. Robert Traile Minister of the Gospel." The volume concludes with the title page for another series of six sermons on 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 preached at Lorimers Hall.

Material Features

Leather bound quarto volume. A note on the front flyleaf reads "The D.N.B. mentions a ms. book of Sermons by R. Trail, on Galatians II.21--perhaps this is the book." Bookplate of the Religious Tract Society Library. The name Rob[ert] Tradd appears on f. iii and the same surname appears on the following recto. F. 1r consists of a title page reading "Six Sermons Preached Upon the 2 Gal:21 By Mr Robert Trail Servant of Jesus Christ in the work of the Gospel." The name Robert Tradd appears on f. iii and the manuscript was owned by Alexander Chalmers according to a note on f. iiv.
