Contents Note

An autograph notebook of Daniel Defoe, totalling 195 pages, signed with his name and initials and dated '1681' by him. The contents consist of Defoe's transcript of six sermons preached in 1681 by John Collins (1632?-1687) and seven verse meditations composed by Defoe himself.

Quarto. Gold-tooled black calf. Marbled endpapers.

Provenance

On p. 118, there is a signature: 'J. Duncan, Winbn Apl 5.87'.

Acquisition

The manuscript was bought from Cannell and Chaffin of Los Angeles.
