This manuscript contains a single sermon preached at Theobalds by Dr. John Rawlinson on 20 December 1619. Peter E. McCullough has attributed this sermon to Francis Rollenson (c. 1565-1630) in his accompanying diskette to Sermons at Court: Politics and religion in Elizabethan and Jacobean preaching (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1998) (see link below to 'Online resource'). However, the present cataloguer disagrees with this attribution, as Rollenson held a B.D. as opposed to D.D.
Quarto. Gold-tooled limp vellum binding.
The Bridgewater House Library was purchased by Henry E. Huntington from John Francis Granville Scrope Egerton, Fourth Earl of Ellesmere, in 1917.

Note that the Egerton Family Papers online finding aid incorrectly states that the sermon was delivered on 19 December. See Guide to British Historical Manuscripts in the Huntington Library (San Marino, CA: The Huntington Library, 1982), pp. 21-25 for more information about the Ellesmere Collection.
