The sermon is accompanied by a note written by William Reeves, dated 16 November 1876. It reads, "A Sermon on 1 Corinth. XV. 58 by W^m. King, Bishop of Derry, & Archbp. of Dublin. Copied from the original in the author's own handwriting, w^ch. came unto the possession of Robert Delap of Monellan (Strabane) Esq., & by him was given, October 14th, 1853, to Evelyn Philip Shirley, of Lough Fea, Esquire, its present owner." Additionally, Reeves has copied out a letter from Delap to Shirley describing the sermon, and has added a note explaining that "This sermon was a Charity sermon for some school of children", and providing some further details, including that "The MS. has no note of place or date but the hand [King's] is unmistakeable."
Sermon by William King, copied from his holograph, apparently by William Reeves, the owner of the manuscript.
