Other Note

There were several clerics active at this time with the surname "Moreland." The most likely preacher of this sermon is Martin Morland (BA from Wadham College, Oxford in 1648, MA in 1651, minister at Weld, Hampshire until ejected during Restoration), who was recently at Oxford and had a nearby post in Hampshire. However, "Mr. Moreland" may instead refer to one of the following individuals: John Morland (MA, licensed as curate at St. Michael's New Malton, Yorkshire in 1641, rector at Cowlam, Yorkshire); Joseph Morland (ordained 1632, licensed curate at Carleton St. Peter, Norfolk in 1636, instituted as rector in 1662), or William Morland (instituted as rector at Greystoke, Cumbria in 1640).
