The first report in British Library, Harley MS 2103 is a complaint of the mayor and citizens of Chester against a sermon preached by 'Mr. Deane in the Cathedrall Church vpon Sondaye the xxiiiith of October last'. According to A Catalogue of the Harleian Manuscripts, in the British Museum (1808), the mayor in question was William Aldersey, and the sermon was preached in 1612. See ff. 5r-6r. There is another report of a sermon at ff. 6v-7r. This Sermon on 1 Samuel 2:30 was preached by Bishop George Lloyd at Chester Cathedral, c. 1612. A funeral sermon on Psalms 103:13-14, delivered by Lloyd, was preached in c. 1613 for Thomas Gamull, Recorder of Chester, in the presence of his successor, Edward Whitby (see f. 10r). According to A Catalogue of the Harleian Manuscripts, in the British Museum (1808), this entry was reported by Robert Whitby. The final report in British Library, Harley MS 2103 relates to the payment of ten shillings demanded by the plaintiff for the preaching of a sermon at the funeral of the wife of 'Wm. Plumloe'. One Mr. Bellen was also present at this suit. Elizabeth Plumloe had been buried in 'Trinity Church', Chester, in 1639. See ff. 182r-184v.
