Contents Note

52 sermons preached at Neilston and Dunlop on the Sabbath between 1697-1698, with the morning and afternoon sermons included for most weeks. The majority of sermons were written and preached by David Broun (or Brown), the minister at Neilston, with a number of sermons at Dunlop being given by the 'Chaplain of Kelburn.' David Broun's sermons are on Romans 8:1 (weekly morning sermon) and John 14:2-4 (weekly afternoon sermon).

Material Features

Leather bound notebook, the leather cover has been repurposed from another book and sewn on roughly by hand. There are some frayed edges and staining throughout but the MS is in good condition overall and remains legible. The back page is signed 'my name is Broun.' There is no foliation or pagination, c.110 leaves total.

Acquisition

Part of a collection of papers of Robert Wodrow held by the University of Glasgow. The manuscript was acquired from Charles W Wodrow Thomson on 8th July 1891.
