William Cade describes the aftermath of his controversial sermon (see ff. 169r-171v in this MS), which defended the behaviour of non-jurors, to William Sancroft, who was himself deprived on 1 February 1690. Cade was 'insolently taken out of [his] house at Aldington [Addington, Kent] on Monday Jul. 7th in the evening, and carryed a Prisoner into Hyth'.

Notes that Dr. Thomas Gooch, fellow of Gonville and Gaius College, "who preached before the [House of] Commons on the 30th, on Psalm 11 v: 3, received the thanks of the House.
In this letter, Richard Broughton writes to his father-in-law, Richard Bagot, sending him a copy of a 'pretye boke', which is Richard Davies's printed funeral sermon for Walter Devereux, First Earl of Essex. The letter is dated 6 May [1577].
This letter, from Smith to Burghley, opens by giving details of Dr Robert Goad's Lent sermon, delivered at Greenwich on 27 February 1573.
'This being the Aniversary for the marterdome of King Charles the first of ever blessed memory [i.e. 30 January 1671] was solemnly kept ye Court appearing in theire blackes at Chappell before whoome was preached a most learned sermon by Dr. Barrow B[isho]p of St Asaph'.
'In the afternoone [of 25 July 1675] we had a French sermon preach'd in ye great R: Chappel by a new convert, who pretends to have been a Dr of Sorbone, his name is as I am told Mons[ieu]r La March, but whether ever he were a Sorbonist or no, I know not; but such mighty earnestness was us'd to gett leave for him to preach, & so many glorious things said of his parts, yt I could not forbeare to hear him, expecting to have learnt ye motives of his conversion [...]'.
