The notetaker writes: '26 Novem[ber] i643. I went to Stepny Church in the Morning wher Mr Burrowes preached Mat. i.i. 28. but for that I came late I tooke no Notes - Afterwards there preached a Doctor. Acts i6.i8.'
At the end of Sermon 22 on Romans 10:4, a note reads "Here I want one or two sermons preached November 1676." This note is followed by blank pages on pp. 216-226.
On either side of Sermon 9 on 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, the scribe has made a note of additional sermons on the text that are missing from the manuscript. Before the sermon is a series of blank pages with a note "I want the Sermon Preached July 1st 1677 in the morning." The missing sermon would be Sermon 8 on the text. At the end of the sermon is a similar note: "I want the Sermon preached in Aug: upon the end of the sacrament the 10th sermon." The writer has once again left a series of blank pages to fill in the missing sermon.
On 10 September 1643, 'Mr Whitby' preached a sermon on John 1:17 in the morning at Theydon Mount Church, Essex. In the afternoon, 'he expounded an Article of the Creede'. The notetaker claims that Whitby's manner of speaking was too quick, meaning that he 'could not write aft[er] him'.
The sermon was preached on 11 June 1643 in the morning.
