Sermon on Psalms 129:1-2
A sermon "of thanksgiving for the reduction of the Kingdom of Ireland". This sermon is much more of a fair copy than others in the volume. It is very long, seemingly written in full.
Sermon on Proverbs 24:21-22
A sermon against religious disorder. On one occasion (9 September 1683) it was preached as a thanksgiving sermon "for ye dyscovery of ye plott against ye king & Duke" (the Rye House Plot). There is evidence of major revision to the sermon.
Georgica concio sexta
The following is written on p. 1 of the sermon: ‘Georgica concio sexta! The sixth Triumphant Sermon! To corroborate the Royal Right of our Protestant King George! […] studyed, Penned, Preached, by Humfrey Michel […]’.
Georgica concio Quarta!
The following is written on p. 1 opens as follows: ‘Georgica concio Quarta! […] The fourth Triumphal Sermon! In loyal vindication of our Protestant King George! Against the Pope-Ridden & Frenchify’d Pretender! Principally & Incontestably Justifying K. George’s Blessed Title, to the Britannic Throne! […] studyed, Penned, & Preached, by Humfrey Michel! […].’ Pp. 2-6 consists of ‘The Dedication to King George!’ There is some use of Greek and also some marginal notes. The sermon begins on p. 7 and ends at p. 36.
Sermon on the Reduction of Ireland
Beautifully presented fair copy of a sermon preached on the Day of Thanksgiving for the Reduction of Ireland. Other copies are contained in Lambeth Palace Library 929 No. 61, ff. 54v-68v, and Trinity College Dublin MS 2466, ff. 127r-142v.
Sermon on Judges 5:31
Preached "On occasion of ye victory of Worcester over the Scotts. Sept. 3. 1651." This date refers to the Battle of Worcester, not the date of preaching which is given in the upper-right corner. Given the Bible text, it is presumably a sermon of Thanksgiving for Cromwell's victory at Worcester.
