Contents Note

This nicely leather-bound volume, mostly dating from the last decade of the 17th century, contains printed and manuscript material including sermons, letters, epitaphs, treatises, translations, accounts of various deaths (including suicides and executions). The materials are copied in the same neat, large late 17th-century hand. Some items in the volume are crossed through page by page; it is not clear what this signifies, although it may indicate material that has been used, digested, read, preached or otherwise expended so that it is no longer needed but is not consigned to the trash.
