Contemporary stiff vellum binding.

Notebook has been rebound with cover of original notebook attached inside the front cover.

Folio volume. Inscription at f. 85v indicates the book belonged to Sir Edward's daughter, Jane Rodney.

All sermon notes written in the same hand, which is small but legible. The manuscript gives only the surnames of the preachers. In most cases, the cataloguer has identified the preacher.

The volume consists of parts of three separate notebooks.

Paper, 120 x 180mm. All written in the same hand. No marginal annotations. Not foliated.

Paper, small quarto, 316 leaves. Consists of loose sheets tipped into a bound volume.

Paper, octavo. Corrections are made on the sermons. Some sermons have preaching information. A note in front of volume "From Rodd's Catalogue" declares that Anthony Pitches "was instituted to the Rectory of Hawested [Hawstead], Suffolk, in 1689, and was buried there 17th August, 1720", i.e., two days after his death.

Mary's notebook has a paper covering. Under the title she has written her initials and drawn a pentacle.

Written mostly in English, with some French and Latin. The sermons are unbound and have no pagination or foliation. One or more sermons is written on each loose sheet, which has been folded in half and then in thirds, and marked on the outside with the preacher(s) and text(s).

Quarto notebook in marbled modern binding, 195 x 150mm, iii + 22 leaves. Evelyn has paginated Blagge's writings, pp. 81-119. These pages are from a longer, unidentified work. The Bible texts are missing from many of the sermon notes.

Paper, octavo, 208 leaves. Notes are written in a single hand.

Paper, ii + 44 leaves, 187 x 147mm. Small notebook bound in contemporary limp vellum. At various points, there are stubs of other pages from a previous binding.

The preacher's notes have occasional additions and corrections but no marginal annotations. The handwriting is very close together but reasonably legible. The middle of the volume (ff. 70-84) is badly damaged and almost impossible to read, so those sermons have not been included here. The notes in this section might be on additional sermons on Psalms 68:19.

Large folio in contemporary brown calf binding. iii + 151 leaves, 350 x 235 mm. Red ink borders. The year of preaching is recorded at the top of the notes, with the date in the left margin, and the preacher and location in the right margin. The sermons are numbered with Roman numerals beginning with Sermon LI. After Sermon LXXVII, Evelyn evidently made a mistake in the numbering, continuing with Sermon LXVIII and repeating several numbers. There are also various other minor inconsistencies in the numbering. At ff. 30r-37r (the first time these folio numbers are used), most of the dates are lost in the gutter, except for the year, in which case only the year has been noted here.

Paper. Miscellaneous papers tipped into modern binding. vi + 238 leaves. Henry's hand is small but neat and legible. His sermon notes are written in a tiny notebook and have minimal annotations and corrections. Tylston's auditor's notes are written in a small notebook with a vellum cover, in which she has written on the front cover: "Katharine: Henry. Her Book Jan. 18 1679/80".

Paper, 120 x 175 mm. The spine is failing, so the volume is practically unbound. The volume is unfoliated, but some leaves are paginated.
