The bundle of sermon drafts is unbound. There is a Ramist diagram (one loose leaf) amongst the drafts and fragments, outlining 'The workes of god'. Different hands have contributed to the drafts, and some of the fragments are in poor condition.

Extent: one folio leaf.

Quarto. Bound with a vellum fragment of estreats of court. The cover features doodles. The manuscript is in poor condition.

The manuscript comprises one roll and several sheets of paper.

Twentieth-century binding. Folio. c. 350 pages. The volume is mispaginated from p. 197. The gold lettering on the spine reads as follows: 'ARMESTRONG'S SERMONS, &C.' Some of the pages are watermarked with a symbol of a hand touching a flower with five petals.

Octavo. Modern quarter calf. 222 pp. (Paginated to p. 149.) The manuscript is partly written in the hand of John Warr. See Michael Hunter, ed., Letters and Papers of Robert Boyle: A Guide to the Manuscripts and Microfilm (Bethseda, MD: University Publications of America, 1992), p. xxxii.

9.6 × 15 cm. Twentieth-century binding. The gold lettering on the spine reads as follows: ‘BOYLE SERMONS 197’. The inside front cover contains the bookplate of the Royal Society, dated London 1945.

Unfoliated and unpaginated. In a contemporary vellum binding. Written in one large but unclear hand. Every page has a wide left-hand margin where biblical references are noted down.

Four unbound folio sheets with a smaller slip inserted. Written in an elegant italic hand, with a few corrections and alterations.

6 sets of sermons notes, individually presented and numbered by the archive. Previously each would have been folded into a booklet, but they have been flattened out and presented as single sheets. They are written in one small, sometimes indistinct hand. The document wallet also contains a photocopy of a facsimile of a passage from Heyood's diary, given as a sample of his handwriting. A transcription has been made in pen on torn out pages from an exercise book of Item 1 (Sermon on Psalms 37:4), probably mid 20th century. Enclosed also are letters by Rev. Pearson and C.H. Simpson(?) dated November 1909 discussing the acquisition of the sermons, found in the effects of the late Mr. S. Louit(?).

An octavo leather-bound volume which once closed with clasps. 41 ff. Written in a small, unclear hand. Pages seem to have been cut out at the back of the volume.

Octavo volume bound in leather with fabric ties at the side.

An octavo volume bound at the top in a paper cover from a later period. Written in a rough hand. The title and the preacher's name are often written in a clearer, fairer hand. Gathers suggest that this was previously two separate pocket books bound together. On the paper front cover is written in pen, “Notes of sermons preached by Reds. Bentley, Booth, Greewood, Alt, Heywood etc. written by John Lister of Over Brea, 1653-4." Written in pencil on the cover in another hand is, "Tillotson Sept 17 1654".

Written on the cover is: "Notes of Sermons preached by Reverend O & N Heywood, Booth, Wales, Milner, Paul Greenwood, Coneyer, Bentley, Allen, Waterhouse etc. Written by John Lister of Over Brea 1654-5”. Written in one clear hand. No pagination.

Octavo volume bound in original leather with the remains of the clasp. Volume bound at the top. Paper slip pasted in the front cover: "Notes of Sermons preached by the Revds. Booth, Leake, Nathaniel Heywood, Bentley, Robinson, etc. Written by John Lister of Upper Brea 1656".
