The title page of this manuscript is designed to imitate a printed one. On the verso of the title page, in a mixture of black-letter and cursive, is written 'The texts of the Sermons Contained in this Booke'; this page is signed off with a monogram ('SEARD').

Unfoliated and unpaginated. Cambridge panel binding. Several different hands are used throughout the volume.

Quarto. 'D. DOWSING, Bookbinder, Ipswich.' appears on a printed label in the top left-hand corner of the front pastedown. In addition, '6d 10' is written in pencil on the front pastedown. The lettering on the spine reads 'EDGERTON'S SERMON 1589'. The manuscript is unfoliated and unpaginated.

Written in several hands, with notes in English, Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. Notes from several books bound together.

352 pp. Volume is clearly planned and well presented, with margins and headers ruled in red on every page and numbered pages. Includes an index at the back giving "some of the principal heads treated of in this booke'.

19 uncatalogued individually bound pamphlets. Each pamphlet contains a single sermon, save item 15 in which two are bound together. Written in a clear and legible hand. The first 14 appear to be in the same hand. Item 15 and item 19 appear to be in the same hand. Corrections, underlining of headings, and notes suggest that these were written by the preacher.

An unbound manuscript bringing together several items, 20cm x 10 cm. Each item written in a different hand. Note stating that they were bound together at the direction of Lady Betty Bruce Boswell.

A series of loose items in Lady Betty's hand, bound together in a blue paper cover. ff. 107.

Several detached religious manuscripts, some in Lady Betty Bruce Boswell's hand, and others unidentified. They have been bound together with a paper cover. Generally in clear, readable hands with minimal damage. Note on the first page: "I have in transcribing this paper drop'd some thoughts here and yr if any of them fix upon the person who desired me to write it I have all that I desire".

Written into the first few pages of an interleaved almanac, which contains other manuscript annotations. The almanac is interleaved with double folios between each printed page and several blank pages before and after the almanac itself. It is bound in brown leather with metal clasps and embossed with the date of the almanac in gold. There is marbling to the fore-edge.

A series of loose papers in a variety of hands, bound together in a marbled leather cover. ff. 160, 18 x 25 cm. On the whole clearly written. Some notes from the compiler of the volume.

25 x 40cm. A series of manuscript items in a variety of hand that have been bound together with a paper cover. One of the letters is preserved as sent with the remnants of a wax seal. Generally legible and undamaged. Some pieces may be in Lady Betty Bruce Boswell's hand.

Three small booklets, two measuring c. 7 x 12 cm and the third c. 8 x 14 cm. Each held together by pins. Written in a very small but neat hand. Also in the file is a typewritten memorandum on the sermons outlining Gordon Saltonstall's life.

15 x 22 cm, c. 250 pp. Bound in original brown sheep leather. Written in a small rough secretary hand. Much of the volume is blank, with fifty blank pages at the beginning before the sermons.

62 ff., 16 x 10 cm. Bound in brown calf leather with gilt decoration. The front cover is detached. A presentation copy written in a single very clear secretary hand, with title pages, ruled margins, headings and flourishes throughout. On the inside front cover inscribed in red pencil, "for my very good R[?]". Late 17th century.

c. 515 pp. Written in a very small, neat hand. Bound in marbled yellow and red paper, 15 x 25 cm. The volume has an index at the front giving details of the verse and preacher for each sermon and contemporary pagination.
