Binding is cloth, with on the spine in gold lettering HENRY MSS.

The volume is bound in leather with blind tooling. The paper is of very good quality and the sermons are written in what appears to be the same hand. The pages have wide margins, double-ruled in red on all but the gutter margins. The volume contains blank leaves between sections, and a large number (unfoliated and unpaginated) at the end. Between pp. 126-127 is a report on two missing sermons.

The volume is bound in quarter leather. On the spine is gold tooling and a label of red leather, tooled and lettered in gold, M. S.

This is a beautiful volume: neat, clear, wide red-ruled margins; heavy paper of good quality. The volume is bound in half leather with blind tooling, and, on the spine, gold tooling and lettering, "WATSON'S MSS." The contents of the entire manuscript are written in detail in the first unfoliated, unpaginated leaves. Each of the five books has a thematic heading printed in large black lettering. The initial letter of each "book" is enlarged and decorated in detail. Occasionally, manicules appear in the margins, as do indications of the structural divisions (but not scriptural references). It is unlikely that these are written in Watson's hand, but this is not certain.

The sermon is paginated by the scribe and enclosed within a brown paper wrapper. It is written in a fairly neat hand and is complete.

The volume is unpaginated, bound in vellum (a single folium from an early manuscript slightly cut-down and re-used). The CL Catalogue identifies the text as the Vulgate translation of Psalms 40, 41, 42, 43, and part of 44. The CL Catalogue notes that in Authorized Version these are Psalms 41-45. The initial letter of each psalm is a two-line blueletter with red ornament spilling into the left margin. The initial letters of the other verses of each psalm are alternately red and blue. The CL Catalogue also conjectures that the description of the volume's contents is in Rudd's own hand, although it is not clear on what evidence this conjecture is based. The volume itself is the work of two main scribes. The first hand is responsible for the preface and the first homily. The second hand is responsible for the second homily. The third hand (conjecturally Rudd's) is responsible for a title page, a note at the end of the first homily, and a title preceding the second.

In different ink "John Taylor. toward ye later end of May." Volume has been written from both ends, and the sermons beginning from the back of the volume are unpaginated. At the other end: "Thomas Pilkington Nouemb. 19.1645". Only the first page of each sermon is numbered.

Large notebook bound in vellum. There are notes in shorthand inside the front and back covers. The pagination is original. The volume begins with an incomplete sermon. Pages 125-156 have been torn out, leaving p. 157 to begin partway through a sermon dated October 30, 1681. A large number of pages have also been torn out at the end of the volume.

The volume is in very poor condition. The binding has been lost and the volume appears to have been wet at some point and also to have been nibbled by various insects.

Notebook with a paper cover. The hand is large and legible. There is original foliation to f. 20, which begins again at "1" on the sixth sermon but is not continued to the end of the sermon. Otherwise the volume is not foliated or paginated.
